From an idea to a finished piece
Custom projects move through a careful series of design, construction, and finishing stages. Because Bechtold Woodworks is a part-time family business, most work happens during available nights and weekends.
Drawings establish the dimensions, layout, and parts needed for the project. Colors in a drawing are representative and may also distinguish parts for the cut list; they are not an exact finish sample. Several revisions may be made until the design matches the customer’s needs.
Once the design and price are approved, a 50% deposit places the project in the work queue. It reserves a position in the schedule rather than a guaranteed start date. Until wood is cut, the order may be canceled and the deposit is refundable.
Review deposit termsProjects move through shared shop stages in small groups. This keeps tools and workspace organized and prevents cutting or sanding dust from contaminating a project that is being finished.

Staying aligned
Customers with an active custom project may receive a private progress-tracker link. The tracker shows current project information, and optional browser notifications can let you know when it changes without placing project details on your lock screen.
Submitted wording is used to personalize the item, so names, dates, spelling, and punctuation should be checked before ordering. We will try to make requested corrections, but changes submitted more than 12 hours after the order may not be possible.
Review personalization termsThe shop can generally support about three large projects at once, or a larger number of smaller projects. Custom work is coordinated with partially completed stock items and other customer orders.
Materials may come from home-improvement stores or specialty lumber suppliers. Availability, special wood choices, custom sizing, and design revisions can all affect the schedule.
Winter weather can also limit shop time because the two-stall garage takes time to heat. Once staining, painting, or sealing begins, dusty operations must pause so the finish remains clean.
